White House Summit on Working Families: STEM and Nontraditional Jobs

On June 23, 2014, the White House, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Center for American Progress hosted the White House Summit on Working Families in Washington, D.C. The summit brought together businesses, elected leaders, state advocates, and others who understand that our country and the challenges that women and their families face have changed while our policies remain outdated. The summit explored how workplace policies need to adapt to ensure that women and families get ahead, not just get by.
NCWIT Board Member Avis Yates Rivers participatd in the STEM and Nontradional Jobs panel session. She describes the urgency of the issue, and talks about NCWIT and the various initiatives underway such as Sit With Me, Pacesetters, and Aspirations in Computing.
