Background 

Dr. Maureen Stewart has been involved with C4C since its inception and she is committed to removing barriers for students pursuing careers in computer science and technology fields. For 26 years as a school counselor in Vermont and Colorado, she has supported high school students in post-secondary pathways for college and career technical education. As director of S.T.E.A.M. enrichment program, Bits and Bytes club and several community coding events, Maureen values the benefit of student-driven, project-based learning to foster student growth and human capital.

She graduated from Saint Michael’s College, B.A. Psychology, and the University of New Hampshire, M.Ed. Counseling. Earning a doctorate from the University of Colorado Leadership in Educational Equity Latin@ Learners, reinforced her advocacy role for underrepresented students. Maureen is proud to advance NCWIT’s mission to foster equity and access for young women through counselor professional development.

As a counselor educator, Maureen is a professor in the masters in school counseling program at Northern Vermont University. She is excited to continue her career in supporting graduate students as they enter the rewarding profession of school counseling! In her free time, she enjoys hiking and skiing in Colorado with her adult children and is most proud of her recent accomplishment trekking the Milford Track New Zealand with her husband.
