Dan Zelem is the CTO of Johnson & Johnson. Formerly, Dan Zelem served as Senior Vice President, Chief of Business Technology at Medco Health Solutions, Inc., where he was responsible for Information Technology strategy and ongoing operations of the company’s vast technology assets. Furthermore, Zelem held a critical role in Medco’s international growth including joint ventures and acquisitions. Zelem was a key contributor and thought leader in delivering game-changing strategies to provide a competitive advantage to Medco and its clients. During his nearly 20-year career with Medco, Zelem oversaw the implementation of an industry leading enterprise information warehouse platform, the launch of medco.com – the world’s largest online pharmacy, the Enterprise Image Service platform which enables Medco’s nationwide network of pharmacies to electronically process millions of mail-order prescriptions each year, and Medco’s enterprise IT Strategy and the modernization of IT assets.
Throughout his career, Zelem has championed diversity in information technology. As chair of NCWIT’s Government committee, Zelem leads NCWIT’s efforts to join forces with Congressional and White House leaders to create a competitive IT talent workforce. Zelem is also a member of the Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS) CIO Executive Council, where he helps bring economically diverse talent into the IT field. Zelem joined Medco in 1991 from Chemical Bank. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.
