Background

Beth Quinn is research faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder working on post-secondary projects at NCWIT. Currently, Beth is directing NCWIT’s EngageCSEdu project, an online repository of course materials for introductory CS courses that are selected and peer-reviewed for their pedagogical quality and their potential to engage diverse students. Beth also serves as Director of Research for the NSF-funded EngageIT project which is constructing and testing new models of professional development for community college computing faculty. The goal of the PD is to empower faculty to use research-based means of retaining and recruiting women in their courses. Prior to joining NCWIT, Beth worked in educational game development, where she led product research and development at the award-winning Filament Games, and was an Associate Professor of Sociology at Montana State University. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of California-Irvine. Dr. Quinn's research interests include workplace equity, processes of change within complex organizations, and pedagogical and curricular innovation.
