Google Donation Helps NCWIT Establish New National Headquarters

On Thursday, June 28, 2018, representatives from Google, NCWIT, and the University of Colorado Boulder gathered to announce and celebrate Google’s $2 million dollar donation to increase access to computing education for aspiring women technologists across the country and students around the globe.
The gathering took place at the new national headquarters for NCWIT — the 2nd floor of Google’s former office space on 26th Street in Boulder. Google turned over the space for NCWIT to accelerate their efforts in the midst of rapid organizational growth and will also fully fund the lease, which amounts to a contribution of roughly $1.3 million over the next six years.
Remarks were given by Google Boulder Site Director Scott Green, Colorado’s first combined Lt. Gov and Chief Operating Officer Donna Lynne of Colorado, CU Boulder Director of PhET Interactive Simulations Kathy Perkins, and NCWIT CEO and Co-founder Lucy Sanders.
“This wonderful space will be the heartbeat of NCWIT’s ability to make a difference here in Boulder, across the nation and around the world. NCWIT staff will love being here together, in central Boulder, with a warm and welcoming space from which we will carry out our critical mission for years to come,” said Lucy.
Additional guest in attendance included NCWIT Board Chair Nancy Phillips, NCWIT Board Chair Emeritus Brad Feld, members of the press, and local supporters, including the office of U.S. Representative Jared Polis.
