We support Girls Go Tech events in conjunction with the Girl Scouts of America. Villanova computer science majors helped local K-12 teachers with a capstone project by teaching eight-grade students about computing so that they could collect and process data for the project. They use success stories of women graduates of our programs as examples. They're working to develop a glossy brochure with their stories. They're also working to guarantee four-year housing to women computer science majors. Women have been ACM student chapter leaders over the last four years. Their College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Committee on Women recently completed a report on women faculty and the changes needed to support their careers. More than half the introductory courses for non-majors are taught by women. The first three semesters of required courses in computing for computer science majors are taught by women.
