University of Texas - Austin
The University of Texas at Austin is one of the largest public universities in the United States and is the largest institution of The University of Texas System. The university has one of the most diverse student populations in the country and is a national leader in the number of undergraduate degrees awarded to minority students. Awareness and Outreach: They have a CS Roadshow for high schools, presented mainly by WiCS and faculty. They've also made an eight-minute video on what is CS? Our First Bytes week-long residential summer camp hosts 50 high school girls and also offers programming for high school CS teachers to build capacity. Retention/Networking/Learning Techniques: They've re-invigorated our Women in CS (WiCS) undergraduate organization and have a newly-formed Graduate Women in Computing program. Curriculum/Administrative Flexibility: We've approved AP CS as a math credit for college-bound Texas high school seniors.
