University of California - Santa Cruz

UCSC opened in 1965 with 650 students. Forty-five years later, the campus is home to nearly 15,000 undergraduates and 1,500 graduate students. Computer science is the study of the theoretical and practical aspects of computer technology and computer usage. The department offers courses on a wide range of topics, many of which include a mathematical component. UC Santa Cruz offers both the bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees, as well as the master of science and doctor of philosophy degrees, in computer science. Besides offering instructional courses, the Computer Science Department engages in a substantial research program in which both advanced undergraduates and graduate students participate.
