This is an organization that was created five years ago to provide high quality/low cost professional development for teachers.  In 2016, we realized we needed to address a common problem in rural school districts- girls were not getting educational opportunities to learn computer programming, due to extreme teacher shortages and lack of exposure to the industry.  To begin solving that problem, we created a one day event "Country Girls Can Code" that gives girls in rural communities an opportunity to learn the basics of programming and to hear from women in the industry.  This was very successful, and in 2017 we added an overnight stay the night before the event so that the girls could travel (up to three hours) the night before and begin a full day of coding the next morning.
