The mission of the Wisconsin School Counselor Association (WSCA) is to advance the profession of school counseling in preschool through post-secondary in order to maximize the academic performance, career planning, and personal/social growth of every student. The theme for the 2019 WSCA Conference is The Power of Hope. This annual conference offers opportunities to learn from your colleagues, make new connections, and stay informed about the latest trends in school counseling.

Preparing for Careers of the Future: School Counselors Lead the Way! // Thursday, February 7, 2019, 7:45 to 10:45 a.m. // Location: Meeting Room N
Did you know tech jobs in Wisconsin are growing, but not enough students are prepared to fill them? And, did you know new computer science classes are being added in Wisconsin’s schools, classes that are suited to all students’ interests and aptitudes? Both of these realities have implications for counselor practice. Join Counselors for Computing for up-to-date information on computing education and careers, and leave equipped with messages and resources (including posters and a virtual reality headset!) that you can use to advise about paths to stable, rewarding and flexible careers in computing. (Ability Level: Basic; Track: Career/Postsecondary)
