Sponsored by ALA’s Center for the Future of Libraries, the Symposium will consider the near-term trends already inspiring innovation in libraries and the longer-term trends that will help us adapt to the needs of our communities.

NCWIT's AspireIT Partnerships Program Director, Jennifer Manning and Senior Research Scientist, Lecia Barker will be joining ALA’s Libraries Ready to Code and Google to explore what libraries need to be integral partners in preparing youth to meet career and life challenges. Participate in group discussions after brief opening remarks. Topics include computational thinking, community partnerships, mentoring, implicit bias, and outcomes-based design with a focus on increasing youth participation from groups underrepresented in tech. Bring your imagination and questions to this interactive workshop and leave with concrete steps to add coding to your repertoire.
