Gordon College

Gordon College

As an intentional Christian community, Gordon serves students from a wide range of backgrounds who embrace the College’s broadly evangelical identity and desire an experience that combines an exceptional liberal arts education with an informed Christian faith. We retain a commitment to integrating faith and learning, a heritage once embraced by many institutions, such as our neighbor in Boston, Harvard University—the first institution of higher learning in the United States. Gordon also remains committed to the power of a liberal arts education to hone qualities most sought by employers—the ability to think holistically, reason analytically, communicate persuasively and—even more importantly—to act morally.

Our primary responsibility is to prepare students for the long haul, to make them spiritually, intellectually, relationally and professionally ready for a lifetime of growth—from the first job out of college and beyond, into fields not yet existing. In a time when individuals are likely to switch occupations (not just employers) over the course of a career, a strong liberal arts education offers flexibility and agility.

Our mission is the foundation of all we do

Then you might want to look closer at Goshen College’s Computing Science, Information Technology or Informatics programs.

We are small, but mighty.  Our program embraces Human Centered Computing, computing for the good of Humanity and other ecologies. We have courses in accessibility programming, where we create software and hardware for persons with disabilities.  We participate in the Association of Computing Machinery’s Computation Competition every October.  In 2016, we came in 5th at the site, and 101st in the region, and it was only our second year in the competition.

Quality, not quantity.  Our professor to student ratio makes the quality education possible. We also match students with real world paid internships in the technology fields.  Goshen College has a strong woman core in Computing Science and Information Technology. Students can also choose to participate in the Maple Scholars Program, where Computing Science and Information Technology students take on a special project and work closely with a professor. If you are a woman who codes, Goshen College is the place to be!

Goucher College Logo

Goucher College

Goucher College is dedicated to a liberal arts education that prepares students within a broad, humane perspective for a life of inquiry, creativity, and critical and analytical thinking.

The college's principal objectives are to help each student master significant areas of knowledge and skills while developing an appreciation for individual and cultural diversity, a sense of social responsibility and a system of personal and professional ethics.

Goucher believes these goals are best achieved in an environment that responds to students both as individuals and as members of multiple groups. Accordingly, education at Goucher is based on an expanding sense of community--a community where discourse is valued and practiced, where students attend small classes and interact closely with faculty and one another, and where students can participate in and lead extracurricular programs.
