The Computer Science Department is located in the College of Arts and Sciences. The department offers Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees. The Department has an exceptional faculty that does research in many forefront areas of computer science including artificial Intelligence, databases and bioinformatics, computer architecture, gaming, graphics, machine vision, operating systems, networks, cryptography and security, software engineering, programming languages, quantum computing, theoretical computer science, and scientific computing. There is also research in the social aspects of computing and learning communities. They have programs in Stillwater and also in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the OSU-Tulsa campus. Most of the courses in Tulsa are taught in the evening to accommodate those who work.

conducts research in computer science and publishes results of that research in the open scientifc and engineering literature,
teaches courses in computer science required by students seeking degrees in other departments and disciplines within Old Dominion University,
participates in the governance of the Department of Computer Science, the College of Sciences, and Old Dominion University, and
takes part in the work of professional societies and peer review panels.
