The mission of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences is to provide a culturally diverse and intellectually stimulating environment for: educating future leaders in academia, industry, government, and entrepreneurial pursuits through rigorous programs covering the theory and application of computer science, developing in their students the ability to solve problems and to contribute through teamwork, creating new knowledge and innovative technologies through research in the core areas of computer science and in collaborations with other disciplines, exploiting the opportunities and solving the problems created by computing and networking technology, and serving the communities to which we belong, locally, nationally, and internationally, with a deep commitment to ethics in the practice of their profession.

University of Denver

The Women's College of the University of Denver (TWC) blends a collaborative, engaging learning community with a challenging academic experience. Their students and faculty have a passion for education and their passion co-creates a stimulating and rewarding environment. Moreover, students graduate from degree and certificate programs with academic knowledge and skills for personal and professional success. At the Women's College, we prepare women to boldly lead in the communities where they live, work, and engage. The ITS program is an inter-disciplinary degree aimed at ensuring students appreciate how technology applications are developed and introduced for use by people and organizations. Course offerings include project management, leadership, communication and problem solving, as well as the typical IT classes in programming, networking, database principles and computer security. The program has identified three "concentration areas" through which students can take courses that align with specific career aspirations: business / systems analysis, technology, and leadership.

University of Georgia

University of Hawaii - Hilo

The University of Hawai'i at Hilo is a state university with a private college atmosphere. University of Hawaii - Manoa

The department has over 30 faculty members who conduct research in areas including: algorithms, artificial intelligence, robotics, biomedical informatics and bioinformatics, computational neuroscience, computer vision, databases, high performance computing, human-computer interaction, library and information science, machine learning, mathematical finance, mobile and ubiquitous computing, renewable energy, security and information assurance, and software engineering.

University of Houston - Downtown

With advanced technology, information and all types of data are being processed at extremely high speed. Work on grand challenge problems such as problems in genetic engineering, bioengineering, natural phenomena, hurricanes, oil spills, biotechnology, and ground water pollution is rapidly increasing. Computer visualization and image processing are becoming essential in medical areas. High performance computing is advancing research in many disciplines, and distributed networking systems are being implemented to enhance communication. These are only a few examples of new challenges in the workplace. More than at any time, the work place is in need of people with strong analytical and computational skills.
