With 3 students, including 2 new women undergraduates from the Computer Science, Electrical, Software and Systems Engineering Department, the department proposes to extend the work of the Student Ambassadors to mentor new freshmen women throughout their first academic year. The ambassadors will know the freshmen through their work with them during the recruiting cycle the previous year. Through this Freshman Mentoring Program, they will plan activities to continue and further develop their relationships with the freshmen, give them course information and point them in the direction for career advice and opportunities to work with faculty in undergraduate research. Professor Keith Garfield, a member of the ESC-UP project and the instructor for the intro computer science course at ERAU, has agreed to oversee the Freshman Mentoring Program.
