Undergraduate women majoring in business, computer science or computer engineering were invited to travel to New York City to visit the Condé Nast and Estée Lauder offices. Presentations showed the ways that technology is shaping the future of the beauty and media industries. The students met with executives and Villanova alumnae to learn about their current roles and career paths.
This one-day event will give women the opportunity to: imagine a technology-based career, increase participation in technology, share successes and failures, and network across schools, disciplines and generations.
VWCS has established a plan for ongoing student leadership. In Spring 2015 the group held three meetings: one on February 16 to get to know each other better, one on March 16 (just before Fall registration began) to help each other with class selection, and one on April 20th in conjunction with the College of Professional Studies programs, where two engineers from Verizon (Courtney George and Damika Harris) talked about their experiences in the tech field. All meetings have been very informative and helpful.
