Goal statement
Make sure all our graduating graduate students (master's and doctoral) are aware of obstacles and advantages of diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
Activity Description
The program consists of three components:
1) a spring speaker series with speakers from industry and academia bringing different perspectives to increase awareness of obstacles and opportunities of diversity and inclusion. Some speakers bring practical advice on negotiation, bias, ...
These sessions are videotaped so that students can attend the live or online sessions.
The program is open to all University of Arizona students, staff members and faculty members.
Speakers are asked to create a mini-quiz with 5 multiple choice questions. Students who complete 3 or more quizzes earn a Certificate of Completion. After 3 years, over 100 certificates were earned.
2) travel awards for students to attend Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing.
3) small scholarship awards for activities executed during internships or the school year.
