2019 NCWIT Entrepreneurial & Workforce Alliances Meeting

At last year’s Summit, we introduced a brand new suite of NCWIT Tech Inclusion Journey resources, with a particular focus on the NCWIT Industry Change Model and a prototype version of the NCWIT Tech Inclusion GPS. These innovative resources translate the latest research in diversity and tech into easily digestible tools you can use to assess where your company is in developing a sustainable inclusive technical culture and strategically plan for more effective change.

Over the past year, we have been working with approximately 20 member organizations to test and refine these and other Tech Inclusion Journey resources. This year, we are excited to debut the online, interactive version of the complete Tech Inclusion Journey Toolkit. This suite of new resources offers a research-based framework designed to empower you to make strategic and measurable progress in your efforts to create inclusive cultures that foster innovation.

The Tech Inclusion Journey toolkit is designed to help answer the following kinds of frequently asked questions:

  • What does a sustainable culture of inclusion look like and why is it important?
  • How do I get started? What are the first or most important things to do when laying a foundation for sustained change?
  • How can I tell the difference between “checkbox” or other ineffective approaches to change vs. state of the art, research-based, strategic approaches?
  • What do we need to do to move to the next level in sustaining strategic change?
  • How can I use NCWIT resources to help me implement the right tactics to support my strategy?
  • What kind of data (both implementation and impact) do I need to collect to describe and measure progress?

During the WA/EA Alliance Summit Meeting we will:

  • Tour and explore the new online Tech Inclusion Journey Toolkit.
  • Hear from peer organizations who have been using the Toolkit prototype the past year and lessons they’ve learned.
  • Use the online Toolkit, designed to help you understand systemic change and locate your organization on the inclusion and diversity landscape.
  • Explore the new Strategic Planning Guide, designed to help you translate your GPS results into a strategic plan for action and evaluation of progress.
  • Learn about three options for engaging with NCWIT on your Tech Inclusion Journey: Self-Guided Tours, Group Travels, and Professionally-led Expeditions.
  • Compare insights and ideas with other member organizations.
  • Learn more about how you can participate in NCWIT Collaborative Action Teams, where you can remain engaged all year long, sharing lessons learned with other organizations.

Please come prepared to have your thinking challenged, and expect to leave with new contacts and resources to leverage in the coming year.
