Emily White is a leading internet and media executive with over 14 years of experience at global and early stage companies including Google and Facebook.
Currently, Emily is Senior Director, Business Operations at Instagram. She runs the business side of Instagram at Facebook, responsible for partnerships, community, user operations and all business-related functions. Prior to working on the Instagram team, Emily was Sr. Director of Mobile Business Development and Partnerships where she worked with mobile companies to drive Facebook growth and the creation and adoption of social phones. Proceeding to her move to mobile in September 2011, Emily led Facebook’s Local business with responsibility for starting and shaping Facebook’s local consumer, merchant, and monetization products. In this role, she ran Local product development, sales, marketing and partnerships. For her work in this space, Ms. White has been profiled in numerous publications globally, including the New York Times, the BBC, and the Wall Street Journal. Ms. White was recently named as “One to Watch” in Fortune magazine, October 2010.
From 2001 to 2010, Ms. White was an executive at Google, Inc, where she grew and scaled several leading businesses, including AdWords, as the first business facing person, Asia-Pacific & Latin American Online Sales & Operations, and the Local and Commerce businesses. Emily was instrumental in growing the Online Sales & Operations business from one to four thousand employees, directly managing the $5B AdWords business with a team of 500 employees. While responsible for Asia Pacific and Latin America Online Sales and Operations, Emily led teams in seven international offices and spearheaded the relocation the Asia Pacific and Latin America headquarters into region.
Emily is a board member of Lululemon, a public athletic apparel company, the non-profit National Center for Women in Information Technology, and the non-profit Bring Change 2 Mind. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. She is married with two children.
