The National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) awarded $3.25 million to help establish NCWIT. The NSF/CISE award (number 0413538) provides financial support for NCWIT's infrastructure and a research emphasis on undergraduate and graduate education and faculty careers. In July 2008 NSF/CISE awarded NCWIT a supplemental grant of $5.8 million. This grant (number 0813956) supports the continuation of our Alliances, the creation and evaluation of resources, and the creation of systems to accelerate organizational reform. NCWIT also is the recipient of a five-year, $2.4 million grant from the Division of Human Resource Development at the NSF Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR). This Extension Services grant (number 0533580, 2005) supports NCWIT Extension Services, which include the identification, evaluation, implementation and dissemination of practices nationally to bring about systemic and sustained progress in women's participation. NCWIT Extension Services allows members of the NCWIT Academic Alliance institutions to participate in annual regional and national workshops, on-site consultations, and educational client services designed to increase gender diversity in their computing programs.
