You Need More Women at Your Startup.

Here's Why, and How We Can Help.

Gender diversity expands the talent pool.

You don't have to read TechCrunch to know there's a "talent war" going on. As a small company, you'll need more than a foosball table if you want to compete. Women represent a vast, mostly untapped talent pool and your potential creative edge.

Gender diversity increases your ROI.

Research shows that tech companies with the highest representation of women in their management teams have a 34% higher return on investment than those with few or no women1. Tech companies led by women use 40% less capital and are more likely to survive the transition from startup to established company2.

Gender diversity improves technical innovation.

Groups with greater diversity solve problems better and faster than homogenous groups3, and including women in a group is more likely to increase the group's collective intelligence4. If women will use your product or service, then women should help to create it.

Creating an inclusive culture starts when you're small.

If you think diversity is lip service, or that these "HR issues" can "wait until we're bigger", think again. Your company's mission, vision, and culture need to be inclusive from the get-go.

If you're a company with fewer than 100 employees5, join the NCWIT Entrepreneurial Alliance to capitalize on the benefits women can bring to your company.
  • Get the research and practices you need to create and maintain an inclusive technical culture, right from the start.
  • Help technical women learn about jobs at your startup.
  • Gain access to hundreds of universities and corporations at our national Summit, with opportunities to network.
  • Identify what your startup needs to thrive, transition to the next phase of growth, and maintain a thriving company culture along the way.
NCWIT can help you hire more technical women, retain them, and establish a successful company culture.

NCWIT is the National Center for Women & Information Technology. We're a non-profit coalition of more than 300 universities, corporations, and non-profits working to increase women's participation as technology creators, not just consumers. We understand the problems and we know the research. We provide data-driven tools and resources, a national network of events and alliances, and concrete advice on how to recruit, retain, and advance women within your organization. We can plug you into a national network of universities and corporations, help you find high-quality talent, and grow your company.

Join the NCWIT Entrepreneurial Alliance for $2,000 per year.
