WI Affiliate Aspirations Awardees Photo from May, 2023

Award recipients are recognized during a ceremony and reception in May of each year. Each has a photo and bio in our award event booklet. Awardees are selected for their interest and aptitude in IT and computing, strong leadership ability, community involvement, solving problems and career plans demonstrating a desire to grow their technology and professional skills. Possible prizes include scholarships, tech devices, cash rewards, virtual meet-ups with professionals, possible job shadow experiences and summer paid internships, and more!


High school students who identify as women, genderqueer or non-binary are invited to apply. Applications are being accepted through 10:59pm CT on Monday, November 6, 2023. This will be a hard deadline and can't be extended due to reviewing time requirements.

 Affiliate Goals for 2023-24

  • 2023-24 AiC Number of Applications Goals

    • 15% increase in applications (from 197 to 227 (ie +30))

      • (2022-23) To 197 - ie +1

    • 15% increase in completed applications (from 153 to 176 (ie +23))

      • (2022-23) To 153 - ie +11%  +15 applications

    • Reduce the number of incomplete applications from 22% (44/1997) to 15% (using our 227 goal, we would have 34 incompletes)

      • (2022-23) Had 44 incompletes, down to 22% incompletes

  • 2023-2024 AiC Schools Expansion goals

    • Of the 100 schools that didn’t have applicants in 2022-23, we aim to have 15% (15) of those schools submit applications for 2023-24 year

      • 5 schools (4%) for 2023 didn’t have an applicant for 2022

    • Of the 58 schools that had applicants in 2022-23, our goal is for 80% (46) of those schools submit applications for 2023-24.

      • 36 schools repeated from 2022-23 (about 70%)

    • Of the 181 teacher endorsers contacted, our goal is for 25% (45) past teacher endorsers to support at least one applicant this year (2023-24)

      • (2022-23) we had 29 (17%)  past teacher endorsers support an applicant 

  • 2023-2024 AiC HS Diversity Goals

    • At least 15% of all applicants identify as Black (227*0.15=34)

      • (2033-23) 15 of 197 =7.6% applicants (complete and incomplete) were Black; for complete 7 of 153 = 4.6%

    • At least 15% of all applicants identify as Hispanic (34)

      • (2022-23) 9 of 197 = 4.6% applicants (compl and incompl) were Latinx; for complete it was 9/197 = 4.6%

    • Increase the number of diverse schools from 6 of 58 (10%) to 20%

      • (2022-23) 9 of 52 to 6 of 58

    • Increase the number of rural schools from 7 of 58 (12%) to 20%

      • This is new for this year

    • Measurement Instruments

      • We we will use application responses to determine the number of Black and LatinX women who have applied

      • "Diversified Schools" are defined as schools with >50% non-white students based on WI Dept of Public Instruction statistics
