University of South Carolina - Columbia

The Computer Science and Engineering department currently serves around 450 undergraduate students and around 120 graduate students, with 24 faculty members. The department offers degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Computer Information Systems, both at the undergraduate and graduate level.

At the University of South Carolina, an undergraduate degree in computing provides an excellent starting place for a career field in which substantial growth is predicted. Computing professions draw on a wide variety of talents and interests. For example, scientific computing professionals need a strong background in mathematics, while those working in areas such as user interfaces need a strong background in social sciences and communication.

As a senior comprehensive public institution of the University of South Carolina, the University's primary responsibilities are to offer baccalaureate education to the citizens of the Upstate of South Carolina and to offer selected master's degrees in response to regional demand. In the Division of Mathematics and Computer Science, students may pursue majors in computer science, computer information systems, computational mathematics, and mathematics. A rigorous curriculum and dedicated faculty prepare students to excel in careers and graduate study in their major fields of study.

The University of Texas at Austin is one of the largest public universities in the United States and is the largest institution of The University of Texas System. The university has one of the most diverse student populations in the country and is a national leader in the number of undergraduate degrees awarded to minority students. Awareness and Outreach: They have a CS Roadshow for high schools, presented mainly by WiCS and faculty. They've also made an eight-minute video on what is CS? Our First Bytes week-long residential summer camp hosts 50 high school girls and also offers programming for high school CS teachers to build capacity. Retention/Networking/Learning Techniques: They've re-invigorated our Women in CS (WiCS) undergraduate organization and have a newly-formed Graduate Women in Computing program. Curriculum/Administrative Flexibility: We've approved AP CS as a math credit for college-bound Texas high school seniors.

The Department of Computer Science is a part of the School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas - Pan American. The Department of Computer Science offers an CAC/ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) degree with a major in computer science. The Department of Computer Science offers a joint Computer Science Degree with the Electrical Engineering Department. A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a major in Computer Science with a required minor field is also offered. The BS degree is not accredited by CAC/ABET. The Department also offers an 18-hour minor in computer science. The department offers Master's degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology.
